Always Trust The Process ... Birth Works!
Always Trust The Process ... Birth Works!
This simple but elegant statement has been Jill's guiding mantra since she actively began living out her long-held belief that women should have birth options extending well beyond hospital walls and the medical practice model. Since beginning her journey in 2000, Jill has been blessed to witness hundreds of women attain their dreams of a safe birth at home. Births where they were calling the shots and truly collaborating with a caregiver who listened to them and believed in their dreams. Along the way, she helped them to comprehend the depth of the statement “Always Trust The Process” by applying midwifery principles that allow for realistic expectations of the birth process free from intervention. Jill’s dealings with her clients are always straight from the heart and deeply rooted in human understanding, education and personal experience. She is the mother of five children, three of whom were born at home with the assistance of direct entry midwives. Those women have served as mentors, friends and confidants all along her path. As a gateway into becoming a midwife, Jill worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery. So when she talks to her clients about the possibilities of safe and joyful birth at home, she has a deep understanding of the birth process from many perspectives. Jill is credentialed as a Certified Professional Midwife by the North American Registry of Midwives. She was traditionally trained through the apprenticeship model of midwifery education, also known as the Portfolio Evaluation Process (PEP). She holds a Registered Nursing License in Pennsylvania, is a certified Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider through the American Academy of Pediatrics/American Heart Association Neonatal Resuscitation Program and is also certified in Adult and Infant CPR & AED for the BLS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association. Jill is a graduate of the Gannon University School of Nursing and, along with her husband Daniel who is also a Registered Nurse, developed an Emergency Preparedness IV Training Program specifically for those who provide care in the home theatre and other out of hospital birth settings. She remains committed to a continuum of learning for herself and her community of midwifery peers, as well as her clients. It is her steadfast belief that this continuing education enables providers and families alike to make the safest, evidence based decisions about the kinds of birth experiences possible for them. Jill is a member of the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA), the Midwives Alliance of Pennsylvania (MAP) and an active supporter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN), Attachment Parenting International (API), Mothers Acting Up (MAU), Le Leche League International (LLLI) and The Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative.
